The ‘Find an Installer’ service connects homeowners with vetted, TrustMark-registered tradespeople for energy efficiency upgrades, ensuring quality, compliance, and consumer protection.
What is the ‘Find an installer’ service?
One of the main barriers to retrofitting a home is finding a trusted tradesperson who can deliver the work. To help reduce this barrier, TrustMark provides a government-endorsed quality assurance framework for tradespeople working in the home improvement sector. If a business is TrustMark registered, it is working to a Code of Practice set down by an approved Scheme Provider. TrustMark Registered Businesses are thoroughly checked, vetted, and monitored to ensure they meet standards in technical competence, customer service, and trading practices, so homeowners can be sure they’re making the right choice.
Additionally, all Registered Businesses provide a warranty that offers increased protection if the firm goes out of business. Scheme Providers, which include trade associations and certification inspection schemes, regularly assess these businesses to ensure they maintain high standards and deliver quality work.
Powered by TrustMark’s Busines Search Integration API, the ‘Find an Installer’ component of the Retrofit Proposition Toolkit enables customers to query the database of TrustMark-registered businesses and identify local tradespeople that specialise in the installation of specific types of home improvements or technologies. This integration allows customers to explore and reach out to certified installers who can undertake the recommended improvements.
How does the ‘Find an installer’ service work?
The TrustMark Business Search Integration API is a RESTful API that enables you to integrate ‘Find an installer’ functionality directly into your digital platform via GET request. The request will return a paginated list of TrustMark Registered Businesses, including contact details, which can be filtered based on any combination of the following parameters:
- Trade codes
- Trading standards approval status
- Location (postcode, townname, local authority)
For more details you can view our GitHub page which includes API documentation and a full data dictionary. Before this API can be used, a Data Sharing Agreement must be put in place with TrustMark. To request one please draft a summary of your use case for the API and email data@trustmark.org.uk. Once the DSA is signed, you’ll be provided with an API key for accessing the service.
